The
open ocean is no place for charging failure.
That’s why Whitbread
racers, world cruisers, top boat builders and the U.S. Coast Guard all look to
Balmar premium marine alternators for high-output performance and solid
reliability. Balmar marine alternators are built to provide optimum charging
capacity at lower rpm’s, so you’ll enjoy increased economy, shorter
charging cycles and increased battery life. Small and large-case Balmar
alternators are constructed expressly for rugged marine use -- incorporating
extra tough materials for maximum resistance to salt and corrosion. White
powder coating ensures that your alternator will remain in "ship
shape" long after it's installed in your engine room.
No
matter what your charging application, there's a Balmar alternator that's just
the right size and amperage to get the job done right. Small-case alternators
for direct OEM replacement -- to extra-large auxiliary alternators -- provide
amperage outputs ranging from 50 amps, to a whopping 310 amps of charging
power.
Our
small case alternators are ideal for direct OEM replacement on most small to
medium horsepower marine diesel and/or gasoline engines. To see what
small case model is best for your engine, see table below:
Small
Case Alternators
80-Series
Alternators
Available in 50, 65, or 100-amp outputs, 80-Series alternators are
constructed to meet the specific demands of sport fishers, sport cruisers and
trailer boats. All 80-Series alternators feature isolated grounds, sealed
brushes and comply with USCG, SAE J1171, and ISO 8846 ignition protection
standards for gasoline or diesel engines. Available in 1'' (81-Series) or 2''
(812-Series) single-foot mounts.
90,
91 & 912-Series 12-Volt Small Case Alternators
True marine construction and an impressive output at lower engine RPMs
consistent with diesel engines have made our small-case alternators favorites
among recreational and commercial boaters. Available in 75, 100, and 150-amp
single and dual outputs, these alternators feature heavy-duty internal
components and durable powder-coat finishes for years of reliable offshore
service. Three mounting styles: 1'' (91-Series), 2'' single-foot (912-Series),
and 3.15'' (90-Series) dual-foot models are compatible with a wide range of
marine engine types.
90,
91 & 912-Series 24-Volt Small Case Alternators
Small case, 24-volt alternators provide an excellent high-output
replacement or upgrade for 24-volt charging systems. Available in 65- and
80-amp single and dual outputs, these alternators feature heavy-duty internal
components and durable powder-coat finishes for years of reliable offshore
service. Three mounting styles: 1'' (91-24 Series), 2'' single-foot (912-24
Series), and 3.15'' (90-24 Series) dual-foot models are compatible with a wide
range of marine engine types. Dimensions are identical to their 12-volt
counterparts (see dimensions of 90, 91, and 912-Series alternators for
measurements). All models are available in case ground or isolated ground
configurations. See 24-volt power curves below.
LARGE
CASE ALTERNATORS
94
to 98-Series Large & XL Case Alternators
Designed specifically for high-amperage house loads, these large-capacity
alternators are ideal for long-range cruising and commercial applications --
where battery and inverter demands require maximum charging capacity.
Available in 12V, 24V and 32V configurations, with a wide variety of amperage
ratings, these large case and extra-large case alternators feature 2''
single-foot, or 4'' I.D. dual-foot mounts. Many models feature isolated
grounds. Some models include Dual Delta Stators for greater charging
efficiency. Single and dual-output models available. Many models feature
heavy-duty brush less construction.
94-Series
Large Case Alternators
Ideal for large case installations where a 2" single-foot
configuration is required -- Balmar 94-Series alternators are available in
varying amperages and voltages to meet most charging requirements. Some
94-Series models include dual delta stators, isolated grounds, or special
pulleys to complement specific engine and application types. All models
include heavy, marine-duty components and a durable white powder coat finish
for superior rust and corrosion resistance. Models featuring "100A+ @
idle" under the Product Notes heading are engineered to provide optimal
charging at lower engine R.P.M., making them ideal for trolling or charging
while anchored. The following chart describes the qualities and features of
the 94-Series models
